Kagome becomes sick and needs to return to her time to recover, which results in her friends dropping by for a visit. So Inuyasha and his friends go out to search for the monkey's stone Three mischievous monkey sprites are looking for their god's idol and won't release a very inconvenient stone effigy sealed to Inuyasha until their god is freed from the missing idol. While Inuyasha and the others take refuge in a near by cave because it is raining. He tells her his tragic story, that he was an evil man in his youth and responsible for Onigumo's injuries, and now seeks redemption, though he believes he will never find it. Kikyo meets an old man who tries to rob her, but suddenly collapses from chest pain. While InuYasha continues to fight the demon headman of the village, Sango and the exorcist go off to save Miroku, who has been paralyzed by the real demon: the headman's beautiful daughter. " Secret of the Possessed Princess // Yorishiro no Hime no Himitsu" (依り代の姫の秘密) After she introduces herself as a demon exorcist, they decide to join her to fight an oni haunting a nearby village. Inuyasha and his friends run into an old woman, Haori, fighting a demon and save her. " Maliciousness Rising! The Oni Head's Castle // Jaki ga Michiru Oni no Kubi Jō" (邪気が満ちる鬼の首城) When Naraku's cast-off arrives along with Inuyasha and the others, Koga must save Ayame and Kagome from danger. The anime is licensed for release in North America by Viz Media. The first season introduces the central characters and shows the group gathering together. Joined by a lecherous monk, a young fox demon, a demon slayer, and a demon cat, the group seeks to find the fragments of the shattered Jewel of Four Souls, a powerful jewel that had been hidden inside Kagome's body, and keep the shards from being used for evil, including the evil half-demon Naraku who slew Kikyo fifty years before Kagome's arrival.

The series follows a high school girl, Kagome Higurashi who travels back in time to the Sengoku period of Japan where she meets a half-demon named InuYasha and learns that she is the reincarnation of a powerful priestess named Kikyo. Based on the manga series of the same title by Rumiko Takahashi, the anime was produced by Sunrise. It is the first season of the series to be produced and broadcast in High Definition, while maintaining its standard 4:3 aspect ratio. The fourth season of the anime series InuYasha aired in Japan on Animax from Augthrough May 12, 2003.
